John Fisher Junior Public School
One of the oldest school buildings in the city, the John Fisher schoolyard was in need of an update and a new synthetic turf field that could hold up to the high foot traffic from its large student population. Spurred on by neighbouring development and the need to relocate child care facilities VFA was retained to produce a master plan and provide full landscape architectural services for the first two construction phases.
The design included a new natural play space for child care and kindergarten, a new synthetic turf field for soccer and baseball, running track and long jump pit, a new playground, new active hardscape play area, line painting grames, and new softsape with tree planting armour stone seating and a small teaching circle.
