Tommy Thompson Park Baselands Trails
VFA collaborated with Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation, TRCA, Waterfront Toronto and local stakeholders to prepare a Master Plan for the natural regeneration area found between Tommy Thompson Park and the mainland, known as the Leslie Spit Baselands.
The Master Plan includes closing a long-standing gap in the Martin Goodman Trail, a separated on-road multi-use trail, an off-road multi-use trail, and a system of nature viewing trails. These trails will be integrated into the new Lake Ontario Park planned for the eastern waterfront.
VFA has completed construction documents for the multi-use trails, which were completed in 2017. Parks, Forestry and Recreation’s Natural Environment and Community Programs group are planning implementation of the nature viewing trails, and Transportation Services’ Cycling Infrastructure and Programs group is planning for implementation of the Martin Goodman Trail segment.
